BIOMED 2018
11th International Conference on Modelling and Measurement in Medicine and Biology
23 - 25 October, 2018
New Forest, UKIntroduction
The eleventh International Conference on Modelling and Measurement in Medicine and Biology is a well established and recognised forum for the dissemination of the latest research and applications in these important fields.
This important conference started in Southampton in 1991, followed by a meeting in Bath (1993) and others in Milano (1995), Aquasparta (1997), Ljubljana (2003), Bologna (2005), the New Forest (2007), Crete (2009), Riga (2011) and Budapest (2013). The papers presented at these meetings are permanently archived in the WIT eLibrary (www.witpress.com/elibrary) where they are permanently and easily accessible to the international scientific community.
Advances in medical and biological technology are transforming medical care and treatment; in great part, this is the result of the interaction and collaboration between medical sciences and engineering. This has resulted in substantial progress in health care and in the quality of life of the population.
Computer models, in particular, have been increasingly successful in simulating biological phenomena. These are lending support to many applications, including cardiovascular systems, the study of orthopaedics and biomechanics and electrical simulation amongst others.
The conference topics cover a broad spectrum including the simulation of biomedical problems, ranging from cardiovascular modelling to virtual reality and simulation in surgery.
The Conference will also discuss the interaction and complementing aspects of computational methods and measurements, the main consideration and importance being their advantageous integration.
