ECHO offers over 350 varieties in its Florida seed bank requiring diverse approaches to growing, processing, and storing seeds. This five-day course will begin in ECHO’s seed production plots to help participants better understand how crops are managed and harvested. Techniques related to both wet and dry processing of seeds will be practiced, as well as, essential tasks such as germination testing. Long-term seed storage approaches including vacuum sealing and cold storage will be explored, emphasis will be placed on seed saving technologies and approaches for challenging tropical locations.

Cost

Registration Fee: $500.00

Registration fees include:

  • Week-long course
  • Meals (Monday evening through Friday evening).
  • Housing
  • You can arrive on May 8th in the morning and leave on May 12
  • Housing Friday night- for additional fee

Registration does not include:

  • Transportation to or from the Airport/bus station

Payment Options

Payment must be made online, within two weeks of registering, using a valid credit card.

Lodging

Lodging is provided on campus.

  • ECHO is a working farm, and lodging options include dormitory style.
  • If you are a couple, ECHO will try to accomodate housing, but depending on course numbers, it may be necessary to house based on gender.

Food

Registration fees include all meals for Monday night - Friday night.

At this time we are not alwaysable to accommodate those with special dietary needs or food allergies. (Those with special dietary needs will need to plan accordingly, please indicate your allergies on your registration form.)
