Cubes provide a perfect foundation for exploring a myriad of mixed media techniques. In this class, students will be guided through the basics of creating a focal point out of polymer clay. Techniques for creating successful transfers on clay will be highlighted as well as stamping and altering the clay surface.
Students will use polymer clay with molds to create three-dimensional embellishments for their cubes. We will also discover ways to collage on the sides of the box using a variety of imagery that look hand painted. Rubber stamping and stenciling are additional techniques that will be covered. These beautiful cubes will have a set of “legs” to stand on! The optional evening “clay crown” class is the perfect topper for these unique art pieces.

Kit Fee $15 includes: a 3.5 inch square cube, wood legs, acrylic paint and supplies, gold leaf, collage images, Rub n Buff, mica powder, Staz-On ink, gel medium

Student Supply List:

4 (2oz) packages of either Premo or Sculpey III polymer clay to include a package of white or tan clay for transfers. Make sure the clay is somewhat soft before buying, if it is rock hard, don’t buy it! Please condition clay prior to class by kneading it until soft and then placing in a baggie.
