As technology continues to shape the nature of the educational environment, it is essential that faculty members stand equipped with the skills necessary to facilitate student learning regardless of their geographic location. The classroom of today is no longer limited to the brick and mortar setting of previous generations; rather, today’s learning environment is facilitated through platforms that include hybrid, distance, and online settings. The need for faculty members to communicate complex ideas through these settings while using synchronous and asynchronous methodologies is critical to the future of higher education around the world.
The Online Teaching Effectiveness Seminar takes place over six modules which include synchronous and asynchronous activities and will be delivered via Blackboard Learn and Collaborate. The seminar provides a cohort group of attendees a framework from which they can develop individual courses that are geared toward non-traditional audiences. To encompass the variety of teaching styles currently utilized, this program will include the perspectives and materials from various content creators.
Each module provides opportunities to apply concepts through direct exercises and reflections which can later be applied to your school and course needs. Following the successful completion of the program and its deliverables, participants will earn a certificate.
Please note that the synchronous session during the second module will be offered at two different times during its respective day in order to accommodate the various time zones and work schedules. The sessions will also be recorded so the participants can view them at their leisure.
