This intermediate level session will offer a comprehensive look at how to comply with the U.S. export and reexport controls relating to technology and software. Discussion will focus on the regulatory requirements relating to technology and software, including what is considered an export or reexport of technology or software; the kinds of technology and software subject to the EAR; how to determine the Export Control Classification Number; what license exceptions are available; and the unique application requirements of technology and software. BIS technical and policy specialists also will discuss important export control issues that may arise in the employment of foreign nationals and for foreign items incorporating, or produced from, controlled U.S.-origin software and technology.

Recommended prerequisite: Essentials of U.S. Export Controls or Complying with U.S. Export Controls or equivalent experience.

About the Instructors

The instructors are experienced export policy specialists and engineers from BIS's Washington, D.C. headquarters. The instructors will be available throughout the seminar to answer your questions on how the export regulations affect the export activities of your organization or client.

The program will be held at theDoubletree by Hilton Orlando Airport, 5555 Hazeltine National Drive, Orlando, FL 32812. Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. on February 16, 2017. The program will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m.

Registration

The registration fee for the Technology Controls seminar is $231 per person. The registration fee to attend both this seminar and the Complying with U.S. Export Controls seminar on February 14-15 is $700. An early bird registration rate of $675 for both events ends at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, January 20, 2017. Thefee includes parking (Self Park only), continental breakfasts, coffee breaks, lunches and materials for the entire seminar(s).

Registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on February 3, 2017 and registration fees become nonrefundable at that time.
