Mindfulness for Children will engage the clinician in developing an embodied presence while working with youth by looking at how incorporating mindfulness strategies in his/her own life effects the clinician's ability to be present in session. This course will help clinicians understand the key concepts behind mindfulness, how to explain and utilize the concepts of mindfulness with children at different developmental levels, and practical tools for use in individual sessions or in groups.
This course will be a mixture of didactic and experiential in order to give attendees the opportunity to gain understanding in how mindfulness can help them as a clinician as well as how to communicate the tools to children they serve. Understanding that children come in with different needs, this course will give specific guidance in how to use mindfulness with a range of diagnoses and symptoms.
In addition, this workshop will outline basic research and brain science as to the effectiveness of mindfulness as a clinical tool for children
