Bio:Renato Machado Cotta received his Ph.D. in Mechanical &Aerospace Engineering from North Carolina State University (NCSU), USA, in 1985. In 1987 he joined the Mechanical Eng. Dept. at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where he became Full Professor in 1994.Prof. Cotta is the author of more than 465 technical papers and 7 books. He serves in the Honorary Editorial Boards of various International journals such as the Int. Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, Int. Comm. of Heat and Mass Transfer, and Int. Journal of Thermal Sciences. Prof. Cotta contributed as elected Congress Committee member of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ICTAM) since 2010, as Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee of ICHMT since 2015. He is a full elected member of the National Engineering Academy,Brazil, of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, and of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS),Trieste, Italy.Since November 2015 Prof. Cotta serves as President of the National Commissariat of Nuclear Energy, in Brazil, which is both the national regulatory agency and research promoter in nuclear applications, with 14 units and research units and 2200 employees within the country.
