You are invited to attend a free event hosted by the Commission on the Status of Women titled "Kind Wildcats: The Power of Kindness in Daily Life."

Kindness is a powerful skillset that empowers us to think and act differently so that we can effect positive change in our workplaces, schools, families, neighborhoods and communities. In this 30-minute talk, Laura Gronewold, director of education at Ben's Bells Project, will lead a discussion on the challenges and opportunities we encounter in every interaction as we strive to create a kinder workplace and community. Focusing on concepts like metacognition and emotional agility, Gronewold discusses strategies for kind communication, techniques for self-kindness and ways to create a healthy approach to rejection in the workplace. Such kindness-based methods help create work-life balance and empower faculty and staff to feel more connected to their University of Arizona and Tucson communities.

Laura Gronewold spent nearly fifteen years on college campuses as a graduate student, instructor, student affairs professional and advocate for change. For two years, she served as co-chair of University of Arizona Commission on the Status of Women (2013-2015), promoting equity, opportunity and diversity across the UA campus. She holds a Ph.D. in Literature from the UA. In her teaching and student development work, Gronewold practiced a social-justice methodology and empowered students to understand privilege, social location, cultural capital and civic engagement. She is currently director of education for Ben's Bells Project in Tucson, Arizona.
