Big data is being used throughout the Department of Defense to glean information and provide insights across a variety of domains — from intelligence to personnel readiness to logistics to cybersecurity and many other applications. This panel will address the following questions:

  • How are DOD and the military services using big data?
  • What is the potential value in data that DOD has not yet been able to extract information and insights?
  • What are the underlying technical challenges facing DOD in acquiring, processing and analyzing big data sets?
  • What are the technical challenges in sharing access to data across the services and the department?

AFCEA Washington, DC hosts nine monthly breakfast programs featuring a panel of government and military leaders. Our monthly programs draw between 350-400 senior officers and IT professionals from across the Department of Defense, armed services, intelligence and civilian agencies to discuss topics of interest to the DOD IT community, ranging from IT networks to mobility to cybersecurity to UAS/sensors. The goal of our monthly events is to foster better joint warfighting communication, share best practices and lessons learned, and identify mission-critical information technology issues affecting the Department of Defense and military community.
