Come learn how to take photos of the starry night sky! Kristin Repsher, a Calgary-based professional photographer, will be taking you out of the city for this one to make sure we get out of the city's light pollution. Possible locations include various spots around Bragg Creek and Banff National Park. Exact locations are listed in the "itineraries" below.

These workshops will happen either around new moon or on a day when the moon doesn't come up until after midnight, so if weather conditions are good, we will be able to shoot some awesome night landscapes. Between May - July, we'll be able to capture the brightest part of the Milky Way; at other times of year, we'll still be able to capture some of the galaxy sweeping across the night sky!

This meetup is open to all skill levels. Kristin will also provide you with a cheat sheet to help you with camera settings and composition ideas. Please message if you have any questions regarding gear before the workshop.

The fee for this event will cover tuition (Kristin is there to help you, not to take her own photos) as well as learning materials provided on the day.

Including drive time, this event should last between 4-5 hours. Please ensure that, if you plan to drive, you have a National Parks Discovery Pass (free in 2017).

If the temperature is below -20ºC, I will notify everyone of cancellation around 2 hours before the start time. We will run the event even in cloudy conditions as you can still capture some interesting night landscapes regardless, particularly in the mountains.
