Education is the cornerstone of any society and it serves as
one of the foundations for many of its social values and characteristics.
Knowledge societies offer significant opportunities for novel ICT tools and
applications, especially in the fields of education and learning. In such a
context, the role of intelligent systems, rooted in artificial intelligence,
has become increasingly relevant to the field of Technology Enhanced Learning
(TEL). New intelligent solutions can be stand-alone or inter-connected to
others and can target not only cognitive processes but can also take care of
motivational factors. Furthermore, more recently, makerspaces are also emerging
as a central possibility to increase learning opportunities and outcomes,
especially in the case of “fragile users”, as for example children, elderly
people, people with special needs.
The 8th edition of this conference expands the topics of the previous editions
in order to provide an open forum for discussing intelligent systems for TEL,
their roots in novel learning theories, empirical methodologies for their
design or evaluation, stand-alone solutions or web-based ones, and makerspaces,
also fostering entrepreneurship and increasing business startup ideas. It
intends to bring together researchers and developers from industry, the
education field and the academic world to report on the latest scientific
research, technical advances and methodologies.
MIS4TEL 2018 will be held in Toledo (Spain) on June 20th-22nd, 2018, in
parallel with the PAAMS'18 International Conference.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Review process
MIS4TEL welcomes the submission of papers with preference to the topics listed
in the call for papers. All submitted papers will undergo a thorough review
process. Each contribution will be refereed by at least by two experts in the
field using the following set of criteria; relevance, originality,
significance, quality and clarity.
The papers must consist of original, relevant and previously unpublished sound
research efforts related to any of the topics of the conference.
Submitting papers
MIS4TEL papers must be formatted according to the Springer LNCS Template, with
a maximum length of 8 pages in length, including figures and references. All
proposed papers must be submitted in electronic form, in PDF format, using the
Paper Submission Page.
Publication
Accepted papers will be included in the MIS4TEL Proceedings published by AISC
series of Springer Verlag (www.springer.com/series/11156).
At least one of the authors will be required to register and attend MIS4TEL to
present the paper in order to have it included in the conference
proceedings.

DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM
The aim of the Doctoral Consortium is to provide a frame where students can
present their on going research work and meet other students and researchers,
and obtain feedback on future research directions.
The Doctoral Consortium is intended for students who have a specific research
proposal and some preliminary results, but who are still far from completing
their dissertation.
All proposals submitted to the Doctoral Consortium will undergo a thorough
reviewing process with the aim to provide detailed and constructive feedback.
The accepted submissions will be presented at the Doctoral Consortium and
published in the conference proceedings.
