Come along and try your hand at night landscapes lit by the full moon! Kristin Repsher, a Calgary-based professional photographer, will be taking you out of the city for this one. We'll be heading out to Banff National Park for this one so we can capture some mountain landscapes under the interesting light that the full moon provides. The exact location can be found in the "itineraries" section below.
You may be used to only going out for night photos when the moon is just a sliver in the sky; this is best for starry sky shots, but that's not what we're going for here. In this workshop, I'll show you how it's possible to shoot long exposures (2-3 minutes) and make the night look like the middle of the day -- at least, until you notice the stars!
This meetup is open to all skill levels. Kristin will also provide you with a cheat sheet to help you with camera settings and composition ideas. Please message if you have any questions regarding gear before the workshop.
The fee for this event will cover tuition (Kristin is there to help you, not to take her own photos) as well as learning materials provided on the day.
Including drive time, this event should last around 5 hours. Please ensure that, if you plan to drive, you have a National Parks Discovery Pass (free in 2017).
If the temperature is below -20ºC, I will notify everyone of cancellation around 2 hours before the start time. We will run the event even in cloudy conditions as you can still capture some interesting night landscapes regardless, particularly in the mountains.
