The Creative Assemblage is more than a piece of artwork – it’s a
creative journey, a festival of multiple layers of texture, stunning
colors and hidden treasures combined to make this truly personalized
diptych. This technique driven class will begin your exploration into
the world of mixed media arts, working with a variety of mediums and
materials to create the finished masterpiece.
Some of the techniques covered in this two day workshop include:
- Working with resin to learn how to set a bezel to be incorporated into your artwork
- How to create photo transfers onto metal, which will be set into the hidden shrine on the front of the diptych
- Working with fabric to create a stunning dimensional background for the inside panels
- Fundamentals of mixing paints, inks and texture mediums and how to incorporate inclusions
Student supply list to bring to class:
- black and white gesso
- paint brushes in a variety of sizes – at least one larger size for painting large areas and a couple of detail brushes
- sponges/daubers
- palette knives
- liquid adhesive that holds metal and other embellishments like Liquid Fusion
- heat tool
- craft mat
- ‘red line’ tape or similar
- detail scissors
- craft knife
- charms, ephemera, embellishments and other found objects that you
may want to include in your work to personalize your finished piece
