Dear colleagues and friends,
Welcome to the
Ninth International Symposium on Kiwifruit (KIWI-2017) which will be
held in Porto, Portugal, from 6 to 9 September 2017, under the aegis of
the International Society for Horticultural Science.
This
symposium is a common organization of Portugal and Spain where kiwifruit
production has shown a great increase in the last decades and still
represent a high growing potential.
Kiwifruit is an important grown crop all over the world. The kiwifruit of international trade are selections of Actinidia deliciosa, A. chinensis and more recently A. arguta.
The great increase of new cultivars represents a challenge for
scientists and producers, in the way to search for the best which fit
the different types of producers and markets over the world. The
symposium will evolve all the aspects of the kiwifruit industry, from
breeding to consumption.
This symposium will be held at the same
time as the International Kiwifruit Organization (IKO - 2017) 36ht
annual conference, which will take place in the same location on 10-12th
September 2017. This fact will facilitate the join of scientists,
producers and traders from all over the world to exchange knowledge and
discuss the main issues about kiwifruit industry.
Porto is the
second bigger city of Portugal with many touristic attractions, and is
located in the core of the Portuguese and Spanish kiwifruit Iberian
production.
We are sure that the Ninth International Symposium on
Kiwifruit (KIWI-2017) will be a great scientific and social experience
for all of you.
