- perform metallic and non-metallic material analysis
- mechanical property testing, microstructure analysis, chemical composition, failure analysis
- purchasing group raw material representative (steel, aluminum, oils)
Essential Responsibilities- lead or support analysis of material and process related properties
- support manufacturing engineer's development and countermeasure activities
- interpretation of standards and their application
- lab equipment maintenance, create procedures for use and train associates
- cutoff and precision saws, mounting press, belt grinder, polishing wheel
- SEM with EDS, stereo and digital microscopes, Rockwell and Vickers Hardness, tensile machine, FTIR
- support quality assurance visits at suppliers (raw materials, heat treat)
Daily Tasks- work on analysis requests received from all divisions of plant
- perform equipment maintenance
- track and monitor steel shipments to Gear department
- interface with associates needing technical advise or assistance
Required Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities- background in Metallurgical and/or Materials Engineering
- technical writing skills
- strong communication skills
Education Requirement
B.S. in Metallurgical or Materials Science or equivalent education plus experience
