Position Overview AME Materials Engineering has an immediate opening for an Environmental Engineer to support and grow our environmental consulting business and provide environmental consulting services in support of public and private clientele. We are looking for a candidate who is excited about the opportunity to maintain and grow our scope of services with knowledge and technical skills in design and implementation of soil and groundwater remediation systems. Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work on projects with variable complexity with the desire and ability to mentor and build a strong support team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market & develop new work to support the continued growth of environmental services
  • Consulting and management of environmental projects
  • Applying for and acquiring of environmental permits and approvals
  • Development, on-site implementation and monitoring of an Environmental Management Plan
  • Support proposal preparation work and technical work scope development
  • Consulting and management of municipal, commercial, and industrial projects
  • Coordinate multi-discipline team for public and commercial projects
  • Maintain relationships with key client project managers
  • Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work
  • Be able to lead or follow other Principal- and Senior-level employees as the situations occur
  • Manage multiple projects, being responsible for ensuring that deliverables, schedules, and budgets are achieved
  • Travel to project(s), as needed, for the execution of project goals
  • Provide technical direction and training to less experienced professional staff
  • Participate in the development of marketing strategies and presentations of qualifications to clients on projects

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • M.S. in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field required
  • Professional certification/registrations appropriate for field, Registered Professional Engineer, MTO RAQS Registered
  • 10+ years relevant environmental experience
  • Knowledge of relevant Federal and Ontario environmental policies, procedures, and legislation and the MTO’s Environmental Standards and Practices
  • Experience in conducting hydro-geological investigations is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience with compliance projects for municipal, commercial and/or industrial clients
  • Demonstrated experience selling, managing, performing, and consulting on projects and programs, including a wide range of project sizes
  • Experience in managing MTO class environmental assessments including public consultation, stakeholder outreach and documentation preparation, construction inspection and monitoring
  • Strong desire to provide excellent, innovative, practical solutions and a commitment to technical excellence
  • Well organized and exhibit the ability to successfully track and meet budgets and schedules
