This opportunity is for a Materials Engineering Technician on site at our client. As an employee of Productive Resources, you will provide support for and/or assistance with products or engineering processes. Technician at this level typically perform appropriate tests using existing procedures for process control and failure analysis. Provide routine analysis for materials manufacturing process and methods assist with problem identification and resolution root cause analysis corrective action tracking reliability analysis and verification/validation test plan development. Provide guidance on test procedures to engineers and support personnel. Require knowledge and understanding of lab testing equipment and technologies.

Duties

  • Operate and/or calibrate analytical equipment to perform a variety of routine chemical physical or metallurgical tests.
  • Maintain production tooling system and completes shop orders to ensure that tooling is produced for production use.
  • Monitor and participate in the implementation of improvements for cutting stamping welding machining and assembly processes.
  • Maintain the dimensional control of purchased components through measurements with support of electronic three-dimensional or other instruments of similar precision.
  • Create manufacturing programs for Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines or others of similar nature.
  • Maintain chemical concentrations in paint washers to ensure that painted parts meet desired specifications.
  • Support the metallurgy lab and assist the failure analysis process by cutting parts ordering supplies maintaining equipment performing paint tests and testing oil samples to ensure compliance to quality standards.
  • Input, communicate and/or maintain engineering change or other manufacturing information to the appropriate personnel and/or database.

Requirements

  • Hands on position in working with metal sample preparation, including cutting, sanding, mounting and polishing.
  • Willing to perform repetitive tasks and work under the guidance of Metallurgical and Chemical Engineers.
  • Planning on partial travel to Dubuque up to 2 times per week to support lab.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous lab experience is desired.
