Your Mission

As Financial Controller of The Workshop Group you will be responsible for the oversight of the accounting, reporting and internal controls of the Group’s London head office and Spanish subsidiary. Based in the heart of Central London, you will be accountable on the ground to senior management with a direct reporting line to the Group’s Finance HQ. This is a dynamic, ‘hands-on’ role, with responsibilities and accountabilities including:

What you’ll do

    Production of monthly management accounts and reports with strict adherence to Group policies and timetables, including holding subsidiary accountable for same;
    Obtaining an in-depth understanding the key drivers of the business, yielding clear and succinct analyses of the financial position and results in monthly returns;
    Ensuring compliance with both UK and Spain tax, accounting, auditing and external reporting requirements; leading and coordinating the annual external audit;
    Preparing and monitoring performance against forecasts and budgets;
    Treasury oversight in ensuring effective management of working capital;
    Providing analysis and strategic insight to senior management on a proactive and as requested basis, interfacing with the Group’s Business Intelligence function to enhance the quality and efficiency of financial data;
    Leading, mentoring and providing clear guidance to London finance staff, Spain-based financial controller and Spanish finance staff;
    Monitoring the internal controls environment and ensuring compliance with controls;
    Continually seeking to improve productivity and efficiency through the development of software, systems, processes and controls;
    Building and nurturing strong relationships with key internal and external parties including banks, auditors and legal counsel.

What you’ll bring

    Qualified accountant with quality of post-qualification experience taking precedence over quantity;
    Strong analytical skills with an ability to see the big picture beyond the numbers;
    Proven commercial acumen with the ability to apply professional judgment and assess the form and substance of business transactions when determining accounting and reporting treatment;
    Highly disciplined and leads by example with respect to the standard of output and the meeting of deadlines;
    A preference for simplicity when solving complex problems – a decision-maker with and an ability to get to what’s important when faced with obstacles and choices;
    Straight-talking, clear communicator with an ability to work amongst a diverse group of personalities within an international workforce;
    Experience with Microsoft Dynamics an advantage.
