DESCRIPTION

The Bryce Jordan Center is a 16,000 seat multi-purpose arena located on the campus of Penn State University and is home to the Penn State Men’s and Women’s basketball teams. The Bryce Jordan Center is the third largest arena in the state of Pennsylvania. We host events ranging from national tours to local banquets. The Bryce Jordan Center has an excellent and immediate opening for an Event Manager. The Events Manager provides professional client services support in the planning, organization, and management of events with the facility. The Events Manager monitors the logistics of these events and all event coordination tasks after events are booked through their conclusion, by performing personally or through Event Department staff members the following duties and responsibilities (other duties may be assigned): serves as primary liaison between clients and facility departments; meets with client groups to plan and organize assigned meetings and/or events; guides clients in preparation of events by interpreting and explaining policies and procedures; keeps clients informed as to status of deadline schedules, including but not limited to floor plan submissions, meeting room set-up specifications, and other relevant details; coordinates activities with various Bryce Jordan Center (Food and Beverage, Ticketing, Operations) and University (Parking, EMS, Police) departments for assigned meetings and/or events; prepares cost estimates and monitors final billing; provides clear, concise, and timely event information to all Bryce Jordan Center departments; monitors in-house events, maintaining close contact with clients and facility staff to ensure successful events. Follows-up on all client requests, concerns, and problems; attends appropriate planning, organization and other event and facility meetings in support of facility operations; recruit, hire and train part-time event staff; serves as manager on duty as required. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
