Summary:
The Career Development Center is looking for an
individual who is interested in working with people, specifically in the area
of career development. The Career Peer will be expected to:
- Serve as the front line face of the
Career Lab with professionalism and excellent interpersonal qualities.
- Provide walk-in career resources
information and resume writing basics
- Meet with students to assist in the
creation or improvement of resumes and cover letters
- Provide basic interviewing tips and
information.
- Educate and inform students on the
use and functionality of Handshake
- Communicate with employers
regarding receipt of job postings; post positions for employers to
Handshake
- Assist students in the use of, and
provide support for, Optimal Resume and Interview Stream programs.
- On occasion, assist with the
marketing and carrying out of Career Development Center events (i.e.,
Career Fairs, Information Sessions, etc.).
- Assist with a variety of projects
and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Must be a current UVU Student
- Must be able to work 9 AM-1 PM
Monday – Friday.
- Work schedule for future semesters
to be determined after hire with other Career Peer.
- Must be reliable and demonstrate a
strong work ethic.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication (oral and
written) and interpersonal skills.
- Strong listening and client service
skills
- Possess the desire to assist peers
with career-related needs.
- Excellent organization skills and
attention to detail.
Pay Range:
8.00-10.00
