Sirius Minerals is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work within the Project Development team of its US$2.9 billion multi-discipline engineering, procurement and construction project.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will contribute to the engineering design input at all stages from construction to operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the production of drawings, specifications, design criteria and contractor reports.
  • Coordinate various contractors to ensure battery limits are effectively managed.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of others within the team and coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines.
  • Attend meetings and communicate with project team members and contractors to support ongoing progress.
  • Manage the production of a 3D model and coordinate drawings to support design and construction.
  • Carry out on-site inspections to ensure systems are constructed in accordance with design intentions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

  • A can do, hands on approach with the ability to work well under pressure and prioritise workloads to meet project needs
  • Flexible, adaptable and collaborative approach to multidisciplinary design; willing to engage across the design disciplines.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.
  • Committed to sustainable design with knowledge of current techniques and technologies as applied to own discipline and wider building services.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of overland conveyors and high pressure grinding rolls (HPGRs) considered an asset.
