Job description

Vertellus is currently seeking a Project Engineer to be located at manufacturing facility in Indianapolis, IN. This is responsible for managing complex and multiple engineering projects and activities for the plants and units within the corporation through the analysis, design and implementation phases so that the facilities are provided with the most cost effective, reliable and technically sound processes. Some travel to Vertellus manufacturing sites will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the successful completion of assigned projects which involve the implementation of a new process and/or installation of equipment.
  • Effectively manage all aspects of an assignment by assuming complete project responsibility.
  • Fulfill the role of project manager through effective organization and coordination of projects. This is accomplished by projects being completed at or below the approved budget, developing and meeting realistic action plans which define the project tasks and schedule, meeting project goals and expectations and ultimately satisfying the needs of the end user.
  • Estimate costs, specify and purchase equipment, develop contractor scope of work documents, and supervise construction.
  • Assess the requirements of the assignment and use his or her engineering knowledge to recommend and implement the most technically sound solution.
  • Apply economic and engineering principles in order to implement a cost-effective solution to provide the corporation with the best economic benefit.
  • Provide technical support to a specific facility or department. The information and advice provided must be technically sound. Although the problem and/or question might be out of his or her field of expertise, it is the engineer's responsibility to coordinate with his or her manager to ensure the information is obtained.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in project management or project engineering, or relevant engineering role.
  • Planning, organizing, and problem solving skills including the ability to analyze technical data and make creative and balanced decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work successfully in cross functional teams.
  • Familiarity with computer software tools (Microsoft Project, Excel, Word).
  • Familiarity using process safety tools (PHA, LOPA, MOC, Root Cause Analysis, etc.)
  • Familiarity with ASME, NFPA, API standards helpful.
