JOB PURPOSE The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) at the University of Sharjah invites qualified professionals to apply for a full-time technical Research Coordinator/Research Assistant. The candidate is expected to work with a research team of faculty, students and professionals on joint university-government research projects. In addition, the candidate will be required to assist the Institute Director as a research coordinator.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
· Conduct research tasks, including preparation of proposals, liaising with researchers from inside and outside the university, preparing manuscripts for publication, and carrying out research projects in the areas of water resources and environmental engineering
· Assist the Institute Director as a research coordinator, which involves tasks such as:
o Coordinate the promotional and professional events of the institute (e.g. organization of workshops and seminars)
o Coordinate external collaborative agreements and memorandum of understandings
o Support research groups, centers, support facilities, and researchers
o Work and communicate with research centers, laboratories and groups in order to ensure the timely and orderly execution of requests
o Receive, manage and follow up requests and relevant inquiries of the research entities, including purchase requests and orders
o Collect relevant research performance data, prepare annual and other reports, and prepare and update brochures, booklets, websites and other information and publicity materials
o Gathering and analyzing research data
o Document and managing research assets and monitor budgets
o Assist in managing institute budget-related activities, monitor expenditure against budget, and help prepare annual budget
o Supervise research personnel
Any other tasks assigned/delegated by the institute director that are relevant to the position and within the the appointee's technical and professional background.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in Environmental/Water Engineering and relevant experience and track record in research demonstrated by quality publications and research project experience. Experience in using relevant water/environmental software.
