Job Description:
The Public Safety Officer II is responsible to enforce federal and state laws, local ordinances and University rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and to maintain order in an assigned area. Responsible for the detection and prevention of crime and the protection of life and property, providing active crime prevention, safety and security patrols in the community. Good customer service skills and proven oral and written communication skills are essential.
Qualifications:
• An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possess valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must possess New York State Basic Course for Police Officer certification (approved through the Municipal Police Basic Course for Campus Peace Officer Training Council pursuant to Education Law §6435).
• Successful completion of Field Training Program.
• Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers, including all Windows-based applications.
• Proficiency in non-english language desirable.
• Experience working with university based populations preferred.
