What is the focus of this role?
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our growing team. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate project delivery end-to-end across multiple functions; ideally having done so in a client-facing environment.
The Senior Project Manager will assume project responsibilities from initiation to post-implementation, resulting in the Service hand over to BAU. They will define the project objectives, oversee quality control and be responsible for coordinating the activities of the entire team (including technology / partners).
This role is based in London, and may require some business travel e.g. mainland Europe, as dictated by the location of the project’s Client.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the review of Solutions designed by our Solution Consultants to ensure that project benefits (Revenue / Margin) can be realised by delivering the Client’s requirements in line with the project’s forecast cost.
- Reviewing broad sales statements in RFPs and covering letters in a way that cross-checks the Statement of Work (SoW), so that there is clarity and transparency around the scope of the project, thus enabling Aimia to deliver it effectively and efficiently.
- Tracking client / partner obligations to ensure their project responsibilities are fulfilled, as per the project scope. Change Requests should be formally managed, and should be entertained only after the Client has agreed to fund the incremental requirement(s).
- When requested, assist in the Pre-Sales process to help prepare Solution Proposals, to ensure Aimia fully understands all engagement requirements (and agrees the project’s Risk Profile), and that these are realistically and fairly included in the Proposal quotation submitted.
- Assessing whether project team members possess the appropriate level of expertise required on any given project and, if not, perform the required corrective action e.g. deeper peer reviews, PMO escalation, resource replacement etc.
- Using the agreed Aimia project management tools, processes and procedures (as directed by the PMO Director i.e. PPM tool Sentient), and ensuring timely and accurate Project Reporting is issued to the Project Steering Group and broader stakeholders as and when required.
- Recording the outcomes and actions of all project meetings via the formal taking of minutes, and the issuing of these minutes to all stakeholders should take place within 24 hours of each meeting.
- Developing a clear and detailed project schedule across all streams, accounting for interdependencies and client dependencies.
- Ensuring all project documentation (especially the Solution Definition Document) is complete with any requisite sign-off / approval, and kept up to date.
- Establishing a Project Steering Group (Board) that comprises Executive Sponsor, Business Owner and Senior Supplier, and ensuring that all other stakeholders are kept informed of Board decisions as required
- Supporting the PMO to implement improved project finance tracking and PPM reporting
- Recording, in a timely and accurate fashion, the effort in hours / days of all project inputs so that these can be compared to the up-front estimates, and can therefore be converted into costs to support the project’s financial management
- Active RAID management on every project (Risk, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies)
- Representing Aimia professionally on every occasion when interacting directly with Clients
Essential skills, experience & behaviours:
The successful candidate must have:
- A proven track record in the successful delivery of projects
- Had exposure to geographically dispersed teams, and is well-versed as to the challenges they present
- Experience in large scale, multi-function software implementations in large corporates
- A practical, commercial acumen about them; this will be called on continuously, when they are solving problems
- Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to deal with clients, IT partners and off-shore global teams
- Comprehensive understanding of project management methodologies – PRINCE2 certification desirable
- Ability to multi-task within, and across, projects in line with the priority of the day
- ‘Higher order’ interpersonal skills – especially advanced conflict resolution and negotiation skills
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills – this role will deal with all levels of management, across cultures and time zones
- High energy & proactivity, enthusiasm, a positive attitude and a sense of humour! Cultural fit is paramount here at Aimia
