The Opportunity
The Information Technology Department seeks an incumbent for the position of Mobile Technology Specialist who will be designing, maintaining and supporting department’s Mobile technology initiatives and projects. The candidate will use innovative and creative methods to develop solutions while maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency. The candidate must be adept at leveraging team resources in delivering project assignments and tasks under stringent time constraints.

The Requirements

New Software Development:
- Ensuring all new Application developments to support web and handheld applications (mobile technology)
- Building Proof-Of-Concepts prototypes that can be realistically translated into production solutions
- Continued development and review of all web and mobile software developments

Development, Support and Maintenance of existing Software Developments as following:
- Microsoft SharePoint
- Creating, designing and maintaining mobile technologies projects using various aspects of the SharePoint Server
- Define development tasks and take ownership of key deliverables
- Design and develop bespoke software customizations
- Take ownership of testing and quality control process
- SharePoint Designer workflow and use of InfoPath forms
- Support and Maintenance of existing SharePoint sites and forms.

Cascade Server
- Designing and maintaining Internet-facing websites using Cascade Server
- Providing technical support and maintenance to the existing internet sites using Cascade Server
- XML/XSLT style-sheets/templates maintenance
- Responsible of back end Cascade Server maintenanceLiaising requirements from MPD (Marketing and Publications Department), if required.

iPad Services
- Development and level 2 support of device and application deployment for students, faculty and staff
- Provide level 2 support for trouble-shooting device, application or networking connectivity issues for iPads, Macs and PCs
- Provide level 2 support AirPlay, AirServer/ReflectionApp or AppleTV solutions used by faculty and students
- Coordination and support for training schedules, resources and services for students/staff/faculty if needed
- Development of innovative solutions for improving current practices and deployment strategies
- iBooks author widget development
- Creating, verifying and updating content in ZU iPad/mobile developed Apps
- Develop and maintain mobile technology apps.


Contributing to the development:
- Continued development and review of all web and mobile software developments
- Contributing in building and maintaining synergistic relationships within the IT Team, especially amongst Team Leaders
- Work in line with IT to provide application solutions to meet Emerging Technologies new business opportunities

Research and Reporting
- Writes up technical evaluations and reports as required
- Makes recommendations to the department concerning the latest mobile technologies
- Conduct interviews, surveys or questionnaire for Emerging Technologies research purposes, if required
- Performs other duties as assigned by CSD Supervisor/Director.

The Requirements
- Must possess a BS degree in IT/Computer related field with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in developing mobile web sites/pages for iPhone/iPad and/or Android devices or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of classroom technology (e.g. AV, AppleTVs, Mirroring, Smart Boards etc.) is preferred
- Understanding and experience on AGILE software development methodology is a bonus
- Demonstrated knowledge of the latest mobile technologies
- Experience working in an academic institution
- Project management experience in medium/large scale IT projects with complex requirements and user-needs.

Desired & Preferred requirements:

Knowledge: 
Technical, specialized, business, industry, and/or operational knowledge or understanding.

Web Programming Languages:
Strong HTML5 skills are a must.

Mobile Web: 
Strong jQuery, jQuery Mobile, CSS3, AJAX and XML/XSLT is a required. Phonegap, Sencha and other mobile frameworks experience is a bonus.

Content Management Systems: 
Experience in using and managing XML-driven content management systems like Cascade Server and MS SharePoint is required.

Web design conversion: 
Must have experience in converting web design (art work from a web designer) to functional HTML web-pages for integration with CMSes (like Cascade Server and MS SharePoint).

Web Services: 
Experience in developing applications that interact and interface with SOAP/RESTful web services is mandatory.

iBooks Author: 
Experience in developing HTML5 iBooks Author Widget is preferred.

Programming Languages & Compilers: 
Knowledge of ASP.NET (VB & C#) knowledge is bonus.

Database Tools, Languages and Services: 
Oracle 10g, Microsoft SQL Server (2008), Microsoft SQL Server (Reporting, Integration), PL/SQL, T SQL and mySQL

Mobile Platform: 
iOS, Android and Blackberry

Operating Systems: 
Mac OS 10.x, Mac OS 10.x Server, Microsoft Windows (XP, 7, 8), Microsoft Windows Server (2003, 2008), Android (2.1, 2.2), iOS 5.x/6.x

Web Servers: 
IIS (7.0), Apache

Source Control: 
SVM, GIT or Microsoft Visual SourceSafe

Office Tools:
Microsoft Office (2007, 2010) Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project
