Job Description:
This is a unique opportunity to join Syracuse University’s highly motivated team of talented and experienced HR professionals in a strategic and operational capacity. As a Senior HR Business Partner, you will work in partnership with the senior leaders, key stakeholders and HR colleagues to shape, develop and deliver HR plans and strategy in line with the needs and priorities of the organization. You will operate as your assigned academic and/or administrative unit’s HR expert providing high-level people management support and development in an inclusive and student-centered environment.
The role requires the Senior HR Business Partner to be fully cognizant of how to provide counsel to the most senior leaders in a complex and challenging environment across the full range of employee matters. The most qualified candidates will be conversant in the most up to date best practices in employee relations, organizational development, performance management, recruitment, retention, staff development for employees, supervisors and faculty, workforce planning, benefits and compensation.
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related fields is required. Degree requirements may be substituted for an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.
• Preferred candidates for this role will have at least eight (8) years of progressive HR experience demonstrating senior level competencies in HR expertise, consultation, business acumen, global & cultural effectiveness, critical evaluation, leadership & navigation, communication, relationship management, and ethical practice.
• SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar certification is desired.
• Preferred candidates will have an advanced degree and experience working with faculty, research staff in a higher education setting.

• Solid experience with standard desktop productivity tools, including word processing programs, database management systems, and spreadsheets.

• Proven ability to work in a business partner context and to set priorities, manage competing demands and to provide timely response to urgent issues.
