Job Description:The research assistant will be expected to carry out academic and research tasks related to bioethics and medical professionalism and to follow up on several administrative tasks.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in philosophy, sociology, psychology or other relevant social science.Masters is a plus.
2. Research experience, and/or interest in and general understanding of bioethics theory and literature.
3. Must have initiative, commitment and a strong work ethic
4. Must be proactive, with leadership skills and have an energetic problem-solving approach
5. Excellent command of English and Arabic (both written and verbal) with demonstrated academic writing skills.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Job Responsibilities
1. Conduct literature review searches, and write literature and data summaries (e.g. as background for publications and grants) in bioethics and professionalism2. Assist the Program Director in the preparation of manuscripts for publication
3. Write and publish creative content on relevant issues (updates, news, research, etc.) for the SHBPP online platforms (English)
4. Support the Program Coordinator in coordinating bioethics courses and lectures (including literature searches to identify course material and cases)
5. Assist in planning, development, and implementation of research projects, activities, and awareness campaigns (identifying and researching topics and preparing plan)
6. Attend meetings and take minutes when needed
7. Keep records of all relevant documents (hard and soft copies)
8. Assist the PD and PC in other relevant tasks, including by providing administrative support when necessary.

The Salim El-Hoss Bioethics and Professionalism Program (SHBPP) at the American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine (AUB FM) is an interdisciplinary resource for faculty, students, healthcare providers and policy makers who are involved in bioethics education, research, and consultation in Lebanon and the region.
