Position Summary

The MSU Libraries seeks an experienced professional to serve as a Human Resources Coordinator. This position will report to the Libraries Unit Human Resources Administrator and provide professional level support in the operations of the Libraries Human Resources office.

Primary job duties and responsibilities include: providing HR generalist support to library and archives staff and users; serves as a resource to library and archives staff on student employment and current best practices, policies and procedures; processes information, data, and forms in order to prepare statistical and financial reports; monitors, prepares, and transmits bi-weekly payroll and serves as a unit time administrator; assists unit HR administrators with employment vacancies including initiating staffing requests, performing responsibilities of a staffing coordinator in the applicant tracking system, and providing support in the interview and hiring process; assists with supporting the performance excellence process; assists with staff development initiatives; assists with library projects related to Human Resources; performs other duties as assigned to further the mission of the MSU Libraries.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in human resources, a related social science field, or a field related to the operations of the department; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a human resources function or an area related to departmental operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with Microsoft Office including 365, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with University systems including SAP, Kuali Financial System, and Business Intelligence; experience with Applicant Tracking (PageUp) system; experience assisting in developing policies and procedures surrounding Human Resources and related business functions; experience in a Higher Education environment; knowledge of University policies and procedures, especially in the field of Human Resources; experience in a service based work environment; demonstrates a work orientation that includes problem solving, taking initiative, working as a part of a team, and learning for continuous self-improvement.
