The School of Food Science (SFS), a joint program between Washington State University (WSU) and the University of Idaho (UI), is seeking a dynamic, motivated and promising scientist for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position. The position has both research and teaching responsibilities with an emphasis on dairy research, is located at WSU Pullman campus.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a high impact, well-funded research program in dairy science, and conduct nationally and internationally recognized research in dairy chemistry, processing/engineering, or microbiology; teach undergraduate and graduate courses in dairy or fermentation science, food analysis, and/or other subjects within their field of expertise; serve as an advisor/mentor for students providing them with research and internship opportunities; and participate in service activities of the department, college, and university.

Required: Earned Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Technology, Dairy Science or related field by date of hire. Successful Associate Professor candidate must currently have Associate Professor status.

Preferred: Expertise in research on dairy-based foods, including dairy chemistry, dairy processing/engineering (i.e. filtration, whey processing, etc.), or others; expertise in teaching and course development; demonstrated oral and written English communication skills; ability to work with diverse individuals; demonstrated leadership and teamwork experience; postdoctoral research and teaching or previous food industry experience, especially in dairy; experience in forming partnerships with industry; strong research and publication record in dairy science. Successful Associate Professor candidate must have demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a successful independent research program, and obtain external funding for research.
