College/Department Profile TheTeaching Assistant is responsible for supporting and facilitating the teaching,learning and research activities in the College. Work closely with the teachingstaff and students to enhance quality learning outcomes for students and builda working relationship with students and faculty.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Prepare, designand present dental/ basic science tutorials as part of the teaching andlearning strategy for undergraduate dental students
2. Support dental/ basic science lecturers inthe classroom and with students, especially at-risk students
3. Assess, monitor and record student’progress and provide feedback to students and faculty
4. Record attendance of students
5. Execute assigned duties linked to improvethe teaching and learning process.
6. Collaborate with teaching faculty toensure alignment of different teaching components
7. Build and maintain a relationship withstudents, staff and faculty to ensure that the tutorial/ class exercise goals aremet and enhanced
8. Facilitate and/or lead group discussions, either insmall groups or with the whole class.
9. Hold an office hour once a week oronce a fortnight as appropriate for each course, notifying tutees accordingly.
10. Distribute and arrange for return ofcourse evaluation questionnaires for each tutorial group taught.
11. Mark essays,assignments or other forms of formative assessment as required by the courseprogramme
Qualifications
Dental degreeMaster’s degree preferred
