Sabancı University-Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center (IMC) and its industrial unit, Composite Technologies Center of Excellence (CTCE) with Kordsa, is currently undergoing extensive growth in the direction of Advance Composite Materials and invites exceptional scholars and researchers as applicants for a full-time research faculty position in design and manufacturing of composite materials who will be affiliated with Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center and Manufacturing Engineering. The IMC is an industrial-scale research and technology development facility established in June 2016. The IMC provides facilities for component design, manufacture, assembly, product development, process prototyping, fundamental and applied research, incubation services and commercialization opportunities in integrated manufacturing and composite materials technologies. The center has fully equipped state of the art facilities divided into several laboratories, including, Material Characterization, Wet Chemistry, Polymer Processing, Micro-Nano and Additive Manufacturing, Mechanical Characterization and Structural Health Monitoring, Non-Destructive Testing, Autoclave, Advanced Composite Laboratories, and prototype scale manufacturing lines for thermoset and thermoplastic prepregs.
The successful candidate must have a doctorate degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent discipline. The applicant is required to have a strong proven expertise in at least two or more of the following subjects; industrial scale tool design and manufacturing for aero structures and automotive industry, the theory of 3D CAD and surface solid modeling together with geometrical and dimensional tolerance, fixturing manufacturing, processing, and characterization of composites structures. Candidates are required to have at least one-year postdoctoral research experience in reputed academic institutes or research laboratories and are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research, and graduate student supervision. Ability to interact with researchers in other fields in polymer and composite processing as well as other relevant disciplines is desirable.
