The Mechanical Engineer implements mechanical projects as the Lead Engineer for an integrated system or sub-system. Provides planning, reporting and management of the mechanical project, in addition to technical implementation. The Mechanical Engineer takes full ownership of the mechanical project elements and executes (and/or delegate) individual tasks throughout the project lifecycle by coordinating and forecasting mechanical resources in-house and on site (may include other Mechanical Project Engineers). The Mechanical Engineer takes a systems approach in understanding core design features, project elements, and overall mechanical architecture and manages the scope, budget (OA's, CO's), schedule, maintaining internal and external customer expectations throughout the project life cycle.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Responsible for designing, testing and commissioning automated systems
  • Project management; Participates in system concept development and estimating and in initial System Design Review, partners with electrical engineers and software engineers on projects, ensure that projects are completed on time and budget and to the highest levels of safety and quality
  • Participates in executing test plans on-site, both internal and customer acceptance/BUAT/UAT/FAT
  • Assists with storing LSS (Lifecycle Support Services) turnover documentation in proper location
  • Reviews customer SOW/RFP/RFQ and specifications as requested
  • Creates (and/or delegate) sales orders and other required project work
  • Maintains and tracks issues list, reporting to supervisor/manager as required
  • Determines travel schedules and phasing required for project execution
  • Mentor and assist with the training of technical specialists
  • Maintain awareness of new capabilities and technologies as pertaining to material handling
  • Manage external consultants and contractors in the design and installation of automated material handling systems
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineers and Software Engineers on all projects
  • Ensure that projects are completed on time and budget and to the highest levels of safety and quality.
  • Participate in system concept development and estimating
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience required
  • P. Eng. certification preferred
  • 5 years' relevant experience in industrial automation or material
  • hahandling
  • Experience in industrial controls and automation systems preferred
  • Designing, testing and commissioning of automated material handling systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Autocad
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Proven analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical System Analysis
  • Ability to design and interpret mechanical drawings for automated systems

Requirements
