The Process Controls Engineer is responsible for maintaining, upgrading and troubleshooting the Honeywell Experion PKS and TDC 3000 systems through process automation, measurement, and control. The role will support the Bayport plant in the areas of routine operation, reliability, cost and project management as well as providing specialized programming and troubleshooting expertise in the process controls discipline.
Requirements & Qualifications
BS in Chemical Engineering preferred
3+ years of experience in chemical process industry. In plant preferred.
Demonstrated technical skills with Honeywell DCS programming and configuration
PLC programming experience desired
Understanding coupling of information between process control devices to auxiliary systems desired (i.e. LIMS, SAP, and Microsoft platforms desired)
Ability to create, design and see through projects to completion as well as be “hands-on”

Duties & Responsibilities
Process Control
Read, understand and translate P&IDs to develop control strategies and operating displays on an Experion DCS system
Implement robust, cost-effective process control schemes
Recommend process control or engineering changes to rectify upsets and deviations.
To determine the appropriate selection and application of process control devices, equipment, and systems, including Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and levels of Protection (LOPA)
To recommend and provide designs and specifications for process control equipment and systems, including field devices, PLCs and distributed control systems
Cost & Project Management
To develop,evaluate and implement plans and criteria for a variety of projects, assignments, and problem solving activities
To provide technical input, reviews, and oversight of engineering activites on small to medium projects with the in-house team and contractors
Systems & Equipment Management
Responsible for maintaining the Honeywell Experion PKS and TDC 3000 systems including troubleshooting and required upgrades
To provide equipment installation,start-up support including function testing and interlock testing
Responsible for making changes to DCS configuration, graphics, CL programs and Logic Blocks
To design, modify , implement and tune control loops to perform intended functions or optimize performance of existing and new processes
To maintain up-to-date and accurate alarm strategies and minimize standing alarms
To maintain accurate P&IDs, loop sheets, logic diagrams and interlock documents
Support
To lead troubleshooting and recommend fixes and initiate changes for improvements or resolution of issues for the DCS and PLC
To provide vendor recommendations, qualifications, and procurement support
EnvironmentIn-plant and off-site. Exposures to chemicals, raw materials and finished products necessary in the manufacture of hydrogen peroxide and other peroxygen compounds. Exposure to the elements (rain, sun, humidity etc.). Personal protective equipment is worn as directed.
