The Sr. Software Engineer– Analytics will be exposed to an industry leading data-driven analytics platform while working on emerging technologies. This is an early stage initiative with the nimbleness of a startup and the stability of a large organization. Members of this team will be challenged with building highly resilient, fault tolerant real time and batch integrations as well as applications that will provide analytics to the corporation.
As a Software Engineer, you will:
- Enjoy researching emerging technologies and willing to explore new programming languages.
- Develop high performing, scaling and innovative applications in a fast paced and agile development environment.
- Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Scrum/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques.
- Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.
- Passionate about using data assets to optimize systems and products – BI/DW experience preferred.
- knowledgeable with open source tools and technologies and can use and extend them where appropriate to develop solutions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of technical experience developing scalable enterprise application using Java, Python, Go or other similar languages. JavaScript a plus but not required
- Knowledge and/or experience with SQL and NoSQL technologies and experience building RESTful web services.
- Solid understanding and working knowledge of distributed systems, modern operating systems and networking.
- Proven skills in high availability and scalability techniques, performance monitoring, and measuring techniques.
- Prior experience with Agile software development methodologies like Scrum.
- Demonstrated experience using Docker, CI/CD pipelines and build automation tools like Gradle, Ant or Maven
- Must have strong ANSI SQL skills and experience
- Experience with cloud-based big data platforms such as EMR, Hadoop, Hive, Presto, and Redshift a plus.
- Experience working with unstructured data a plus.
- Must be able to work in an agile development environment and comfortable managing shifting priorities.
- Exceptional communication and Presentation skills are a must in this role.
Desired Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Computer Science or Related Field
- Proficiency in Java or Python
- Proficiency in Cloud and Distributed Computing
- Experience with AWS and Google Cloud Platform.
- 5+ years software design and development experience in Java, ETL, and analytic applications
