Essential Functions:- Performs complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products/processes/techniques.
- Reviews product development requirement specifications including marketing and customer requirements.
- Establishes design solutions to meet product development requirements factoring in performance, cost and schedule.
- Develops specific product designs using solid modeling tools (Pro/ Engineer).
- Implements Mechanical Engineering techniques/ knowledge in support of the design, development, qualification and production release of SPD (Surge Protective Device) products
- Works with and develops outside suppliers to provide custom metal and plastic components
- Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests/products/equipment.
- Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflict design requirements, unsuitability of standard material, and difficult coordination issues
- Review project-related documentation to insure its accuracy.
- Provides guidance and direction for drafters.
- Assists in determining projective objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design.
- Achieves mechanical qualification testing of products.
- Prepares corrective action requirements for product releases.
- Completes mechanical design reviews for product releases.
- Maintains and releases design documentation in a PDM system during product development.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required from an accredited educational institution
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited educational institution
- Previous experience with manufacturing and production processes
- Previous experience in enclosure mechanical design
- Previous experience with UL
- Knowledge of engineering database systems (Enovia)
- Understanding performance and capabilities of Eaton’s power distribution products
- Experience with 3D tools (Ex. Pro-E & Designer)
- Experience with Pro-Engineer-solid modeling in an electronics packaging environment, including detailed documentation
