Summary:

Under the general direction of the Latino Initiative Program Director, plans, organizes and executes Latino student and parent orientation sessions in English and Spanish to increase access for Latino students to educational opportunities offered through UVU. Works with UVU departments, school districts, and community organizations located in Utah county and collaborates with partners located in South Summit, North Summit, and Wasatch counties. Coordinates Latino student campus visit conferences. Leads scholarship search, applications, and works with scholarship judges. Promotes UVU opportunities (K-12), degree completion for new and current UVU students.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution with an bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or a combination of education and experience totaling four years. Fluent in both English and Spanish.

Must be a current UVU Employee.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Cultural knowledge in working with the Latino community in Utah county.
  • Skills in development and coordination of Latino events, specifically with parents and prospective, new, and continuing UVU students.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge in coordinating and presenting in English and Spanish at Latino Initiative and school events.
  • Knowledge of UVU policies and procedures.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Skill in office methods and techniques.
  • Skill in developing presentations and informing those in financial need.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with parents and conduct Latino orientation sessions located in UVU’s service area.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Pay Range:

$13.01 - $16.26
