Scope of Job:

The University Of Texas Rio Grande Valley School Of Medicine (UT RGV SOM) is seeking Board Certified Sub-specialty Educational Coordinators in the following areas Nephrology, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease and Hematology-Oncology with experience in teaching residents both in the inpatient and outpatient clinical setting and in the classroom. The SEC is accountable to the program director for coordination of the resident’s subspecialty educational experience to accomplish the goals and objectives in the curriculum. The SEC is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the subspecialty curriculum, coordinating the lecture series and presenting (6) lectures per year. The SEC must be able to dedicate an adequate portion of his/her professional efforts to administrative responsibilities to include faculty development, faculty meetings, resident reviews, resident interviews and serve as a resident advisor/mentor. In addition they will participate in scholarly activity, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, participate in the evaluation of the residents, the program and in the preparation for CLER and RRC site visits. While previous experience in a residency program teaching role is preferred, individuals just finishing fellowship training are highly encouraged to apply.
The SEC must foster a climate of learning and investigation for both the subspecialty division faculty and the trainees. They will also administer and maintain a professional educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competencies and in assisting them to reach their individual Milestones.

Minimum Qualifications:

MD, DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution and can be licensed in the State of Texas.

Board Certification in Internal Medicine and in their Sub-specialty is required.
