Basic Function/Overview:
1. Teach assigned courses in accordance with
assigned course outline of record.
2. Teach classroom assignments in Fire Prevention, Fire Protection Equipment
and Systems, Fire Behavior, Hazardous Materials, Fire Fighting Tactics and
Strategy, Arson a Fire Investigation, Wildland Fire Control, Firefighter Safety
and Survival, and Fire Protection Organization. Teaching assignments may
include Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic courses, and California
State Fire Marshal Company Officer and Chief Officer Courses.
3. Assist with organization, program management, and instruction in fire
academies, including, selection and evaluation of instructors, trainee
selection and assessment, and facilities management
4. Participate in curriculum and learning outcome development and assessment,
serve on College committees as necessary to maintain and improve the
instructional program, and participate in appropriate professional development
activities
5. Perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with
clerical and administrative responsibilities
6. Collaborate effectively with other faculty, staff, and administrators to
plan, develop, and execute related programs
7. Maintain knowledge of College division, department policies, and Federal,
State and local regulations associated with the public safety disciplines.
8. Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of
students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching
methods including online courses, and informed critical feedback on assignments
and discussions
9. Maintain scheduled office and campus hours, and participate in
department/division meetings and committees
10. Late afternoon and/or evening assignments may be required as part of the
regular contract.
License(s) & Other Requirements:
The incumbent may periodically be required to get to a variety of locations. If operating a vehicle, employees must have the ability to secure and maintain a valid California driver’s license.
