The Department of Mechanical Engineering at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for a full-time lecturer position commencing in the Fall Semester 2019. The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, show evidence of a significant teaching portfolio, and demonstrate interest and experience in academic advising. The candidate is expected to devote 50-75 percent effort towards teaching (equivalent to teaching two to three courses per semester), 25-40 percent for academic advising of all mechanical engineering undergraduate majors, and 10-25 percent for other services. Experience in the American model of higher education is highly desirable.

The department currently has 18 full-time faculty positions, 5 lab instructors, an administrative assistant, approximately 460 undergraduate students and 34 master students. Students and faculty represent very diverse backgrounds and nationalities; more than 90 nationalities are present on campus.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at AUS offers both undergraduate and graduate (Master of Science) programs. AUS has been accredited in the United States of America by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since June 2004.

The bachelor of science degree programs in chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering and mechanical engineering offered by the College of Engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET http://www.abet.org/.

AUS was the first university in the Gulf region and the second outside the United States to receive this accreditation.

AUS is located in the Emirate of Sharjah (one of the seven emirates within the United Arab Emirates) adjacent to Dubai.
