Nashville, Tenn.-based Bridgestone Americas, Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation, the world’s largest tire and rubber company.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director, Bandag Retread R&D, the position has primary responsibility for applying current and new technologies to develop best-in-class/industry leading Bandag retread products in North and South America.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Project management of low priority retread product material development projects (all aspects: planning, tracking, ISO documentation, etc.)
  • Technical management of low to medium priority global retread product development activities including test design, data interpretation, reporting and launch of new products
  • Initial setting and long term maintenance of product specifications.
  • Accountable for providing technical recommendations and options for new product development, COGS reductions, and applied research initiatives associated with retread product design.
  • Deliver continuous improvement efforts to reduce the time to market of new products, while ensuring performance and quality are not jeopardized.
  • Ensure intellectual property is managed properly, both internal and external.
  • Utilize state of the art computer modeling

Working Relationships

  • Position must collaborate with internal & external suppliers & customers: process engineering, procurement, supply chain management, quality systems engineering, manufacturing, global technical centers, legal, and accounting (internal); Vendors, Dealer & fleet customers (external).
  • Incumbent must possess the written and oral communication skills necessary to provide management personnel with project status and recommendations.

Travel

  • Depending on priorities and schedules the incumbent may be required to work extended hours (over 45 hours per week), with the potential for evening/night shifts in the production facilities, restread production facilities, and/or fleet inspection visits.

  • Non Office - Retread shops, production facilities, fleet inspections, technical exchange meetings - 20%

Required

Qualifications:

Bachelors - Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics

Preferred

Masters - Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics / experience with Design of Experiment methodology, and/or 3 years experience in the rubber or plastics industry, or commercial fleet operations.
