SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for studying plant processes, calculating entitlement targets, establishing metrics and reporting structure. He/she is accountable for monitoring and reporting out on the improvement of the processes in terms of increased output or reduced cost.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Interfaces with Marketing, Customer Service, R&T, and customers; participates in routine communication between each of these groups and the business
2. Provides timely and effective data analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventative action execution in response to process trends or out of control data points, or any other issues as they arise with platinum-level customer products
3. Leads multi-functional process capability improvement, MOC and validation efforts
4. Collaborates with Production Leadership, Procurement and external vendors to implement/lead business improvement plans
5. Accountable for product quality, non-conforming product disposition, process throughput, waste minimization, training/skill usage of hourly employees, yield improvement, investigation and reduction of production variances for identified products/processes
6. Accountable for tracking process reliability, developing corrective action reports and complaint responses, implement process improvements and corrective actions
7. Develops batch production records/standard operating procedures to ensure Process of Record compliance for assigned platinum-level customer products
8. Works in conjunction with all plant engineering disciplines, R&T and customers to support new products and new manufacturing technology platforms in operations
9. Directs contractors and hourly employees to monitor processes, collect data, install equipment and make process modifications
10. Develops and implements metrics including SPC and SQC to monitor and improve performance of equipment, processes, and overall product quality trends to reduce process variability
11. Develops, designs and implements capital projects to support plant initiatives
12. Performs other duties as assigned with or without accommodation
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field required
Strong Lean & Six Sigma skills preferred
Experience:
Minimum of eight (8) years of related engineering experience required
cGMP/high purity materials experience preferred
Broad materials manufacturing experience including DC, QC, back office, unit and cell operation preferred
Skills/Competencies:
Required to have strong bias for action, to be motivated by impact
Demonstrated complex problem solving expertise and experience
Working knowledge of financial/cost systems and standard operating procedures process
Knowledge of FDA, cGMP, ISO 9000 and applicable state and federal environmental regulations preferred
Demonstrated organizational, technical leadership, presentation and communication skills
Strong organization and prioritization skills
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
The Industrial Engineer reports directly to a Production Manager and interfaces with plant management, union personnel and various functional personnel across multiple levels of the organization. He/she is involved in a broad set of company processes across the plant distribution center, logistics, manufacturing, quality control and back office functions.
