8:30am -5:00pm (academic year)
8:00am – 4:30pm (summer)

Job Description:

The Director of Publications is a seasoned professional tasked with reimagining the University’s approach to external and other enterprise-wide publications. A senior writer, editor and proofreader with an outstanding writing portfolio and experience with multichannel content integration. This individual must partner with other channel managers to strategize about how content is curated in publications. Responsible for developing and implementing an operational plan for a contemporary, effective and efficient approach to University publications. Build and implement a strategy to engage vendors efficiently. Lead a professional team of staff who are dedicated to the production of exceptional quality publication materials that reflect the image of Syracuse University.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 (ten) years of relevant experience in a marketing and communications function.

• A minimum of 10 (ten) years managing integrated content campaigns.

• Minimum of 5 (five) years successfully leading marketing teams.

• Clear understanding of how publications fit into marketing mix.

Job Specific Qualifications:

• Describe the level of technical/professional knowledge and key skills needed to successfully perform the work.

• Senior editor, copywriter, content curator. Excellent writer, editor, proofreader and marketer.

• Seasoned individual with experience in multichannel content integration and ability to partner with other channel managers to strategize about how content is curated in publications.

• Must provide superior writing portfolio.

• Works effectively with others to problem-solve, build relationships and position content to advance organizational goals.

• Sound editorial judgement and decision-making. Excellent attention to detail.

• Modern marketer who understands publications.

• Track-record of building high performing teams.

• Positive attitude.

• Can manage projects to come in on time, on budget and on deadline.
