Position Summary
Seeking qualified candidate as a child care assistant to work with children at the Michigan State University Child Development Laboratory in the department of Human Development and Family Studies. Basic Functions are to provide childcare and oversight in a classroom setting, according to state licensing and credentialing requirements, in order to insure quality care of children (infants and toddlers).
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired by completing specialized training such as that acquired in one year of college, technical, vocational or trade school; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in providing child care; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The job may require possession of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or other qualifications as required for National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in child development; certification in infant, child, and adult CPR and First Aid; ability to maintain professional conduct per NAEYC Code of Ethics; experience providing child care to children- birth through three years; knowledge of infant/toddler development and facilitation of growth and learning; interest in looping design-rotation over an 18 month period from the infant room to the toddler's room, back to the infant room; ability to establish high quality relationships with children and families; possession of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or other qualifications as required for National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation and State of Michigan's Quality Rating System.
