SNC is currently seeking exceptional candidates who wish to be a part of the commercial space revolution. Our fun, fast-paced and collaborative team designs, builds, and flies the Dream Chaser Cargo System, an ambitious flagship program to create our Nation's only commercially reusable space plane. With your help, we will conduct many safe and successful missions over the next decade to deliver critical cargo to and from the International Space Station. These flights for NASA will enable us to build an unprecedented commercial space transportation network around the Dream Chaser, which provides affordable, cutting-edge orbital capability and return to Earth services onto runways around the globe. Dream Chaser Flight Operations-Mission Simulation is responsible for the design, development, and operational support of the Dream Chaser Mission Simulator (DCMS). The DCMS will be used for hardware test support, flight crew and controller mission training, and real-time flight test/mission support. We are building a team with a wide array of experience levels to perform these tasks.

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Work with a team of 4-5 engineers to accomplish the following:
  • Simulation framework development
  • Simulation architecture development
  • Simulation support tool development
  • Subsystem and environment modeling
  • Subsystem hardware integration into simulation
  • Simulation User Support
  • Technical integration of various system products
  • Verification and validation of DCMS
  • Integration with Dream Chaser Design & Development, Systems Integration, Safety & Mission Assurance, NASA and partner engineering and operations personnel
  • Support the engineering team on refining the system architecture during the proposal effort
  • Support the program efforts to interpret customer requirements and decompose them into hardware and system requirements and specifications
  • Originate specifications, control documents, verification and validation plans, procedures, reports, or other documentation in support of simulation design and development activities
Additional Responsibilities Include

  • Follow SNC policies, procedures and work instructions for all technical activities
  • Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours
  • Other duties as assigned
Compliance Responsibilities

  • Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)
  • Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such as Time Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations, Salary Reviews, Succession Planning, etc.
  • Responsible for leadership oversight and for ensuring Department/Team training
Education, Experience And Skills Required

  • Requires a BS in Related Field.
  • 6+ Years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science
  • Prior experience with real-time simulation strongly desired
  • Prior experience with hardware in the loop simulation/testing strongly desired
  • Prior manned spaceflight experience desired
  • Prior experience with model development
  • Systems engineering & requirements development
  • Seeking individuals with various levels of experience
  • Fundamental understanding of software coding structures and techniques with a proficiency in several of the following languages: MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Python, Fortran, Java
  • Linux operating system proficiency
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Ability to rapidly work with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering teams
  • Previous experience and skills in project definition, simulation, implementation, lab integration and test
  • Must be able to work in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment with emphasizes in rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities
