Scope of Job:
Assist General Manager of Corporate Sales and other Executive Staff to increase the Athletic Departments’ revenue primarily through, but not limited to, Sponsorship sales with local and regional business partners by growing existing relationships and acquiring new business partners. This includes identifying potential corporate partners, coordinating appointments with prospects for General Manager of Corporate Sales, developing proposals, invoicing and collections efforts and fulfilling contracts for all sports related inventory within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Responsible for image enhancement of Department of Intercollegiate Athletics across Rio Grande Valley market by leveraging athletic events and growing relationships with local businesses and community organizations.
Description of Duties:
• Builds relationships with current
corporate partners seeking their input on strategies to enhance existing
elements of their contracts.
• Assists GM of Corporate Sales in building relationships with current
corporate partners to enhance existing elements of their sponsorship
agreements.
• Coordinates and promotes corporate involvement by providing event tickets to
local sponsors for events, such as corporate nights, and hospitality events.
• Leverages local market data and community relationships to identify potential
Sponsorship partners through attendance and participation with local area Chamber
of Commerce and other business related organizations and events.
• Consistently meets required number of weekly/monthly presentations to
potential corporate partners to ensure growth in number and revenue delivered.
• Creates proposals and presentations with input from GM of Corporate Sales,
Director of Athletics and potential Sponsors.
• Engages and consults with corporate partners regularly, promoting quality
customer service and contract fulfillment.
• Tracks and reports number of departmental sales presentations and amounts of
revenue pitched on a monthly and annual basis.
• Ensures corporate partnerships are compliant with NCAA standards,
Western Athletic Conference and University rules and regulations.
• Assists the General Manager of Corporate Sales and Sponsorships to develop
and identify new promotional inventory and opportunities, and helps develop
departmental sales strategies.
• Engages and consults with corporate partners regularly, promoting quality
customer service and contract fulfillment.
• Assists the department of intercollegiate athletics in all game day and
special event promotions, specifically engaging sponsors to participate and
attend these events.
• Responsible for cultivating and building a good working relationship with
different personnel and departments within UTRGV and the surrounding
Rio Grande Valley community.
• Responsible for working and attending events and promotions including
occasional nights, weekends and holidays.
• Meets deadlines for presentations to potential corporate partners.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (comparable required experience may be accepted in lieu of education on a 1 on 1 basis).
Required Experience:
Three (3) years of sales and broadcasting/media experience in a related field and/or professional experience in the sports industry.
Preferred Experience:
• Experience in live
television/radio broadcasting, college or professional sports field.
• Experience in an advertising sales environment, college or pro sports field
