Job Description:

We are currently have two open Director of Development positions. These Directors will serve as members of a team of development professionals working to expand private philanthropy in support of the Martin J. Whitman School of Management (WSM) at Syracuse University.

Reporting to the School’s Assistant Dean for Advancement, the Director is a major gift front-line fundraiser responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, closing and stewarding major gifts from alumni, parents and friends of the School, and will work collaboratively with college-based development officers and University-wide Advancement and External Affairs.

Primary duties include building a deeper pipeline of new WSM major gift donors for the ongoing comprehensive campaign, establishing and managing effective relationships with WSM prospects and existing major gift donors; as well as collaborating with the regional fundraising program for Syracuse University in an effort to advance WSM relationships.

The Director is expected to conduct 10+ prospect visits per month and manage a portfolio of up to 80 prospects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

• Competitive candidates will have a minimum of six years of experience in the nonprofit sector (or a transferable field) with a minimum of four years as a higher education front-line fundraiser representative preferred.
