Summary of Primary Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Bedford, MA location. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for accounting processes associated with month end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and preparation of analysis and financial reports. This position will support and enhance internal controls over financial reporting, including SOX compliance and documentation. Work closely and collaborate with the 12 members of the finance team as well as commercial and production teams.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Execute the monthly close process with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
- Responsibilities may include recording fixed assets into FAS system and fixed asset register maintenance, prepaid accounting, accounts receivable reporting & invoicing; prepare associated journal entries
- Work collaboratively with the Cost Accounting Manager, Tax Manager and other members of finance to ensure all necessary entries are reflected in the general ledger
- Interface with commercial/materials groups for items relating to revenue recognition
- Prepare account reconciliations, research and manage reconciling items, and provide detailed variance explanations
- Identify and implement improvements to create more efficient accounting processes
- Support and enhance a strong system of internal controls over financial reporting, including SOX compliance and documentation
- Support internal and external audit process by providing support and audit evidence as required
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in accounting or finance
- Strong knowledge of GAAP required
- Demonstrated analytical, interpersonal, and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Detail oriented and well organized
- Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to collaborate to solve problems and achieve results
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills;
- Ability to quickly learn financial systems
