The Noise & Vibration team is looking for a simulation specialist who will be responsible for structural dynamics modeling, simulation, experimental correlation/validation as well as design optimization. The candidate will work hand-in-hand with cross-functional teams, innovating in small groups with high initiative. S/He will be asked to make significant engineering contribution to enable industry-leading consumer electronic devices.

Description

As part of Apple’s Noise & Vibration group, the candidate will have responsibilities that include:

  • Consumer electronics device component and module FEM modeling and acoustics simulation
  • System level noise and vibration improvement and optimization
  • Experimental validation/correlation of modeling
  • Identify critical parameters for noise and vibration issues
  • Sensitivity studies and provide suggestion for DOE
  • Working with cross-functional teams throughout the product development cycle to optimize the design for component and system noise abatement.

Education Details

BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustical Engineering, Applied Mechanics or a related area

Key Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have proven experience of N&V engineering in a consumer electronics/appliance company or related area. Expertise in most of the following is required:

  • Theoretical and experimental background in Structural dynamics
  • 3 years hands-on FEM and acoustics and simulation experience
  • Methods for identifying sources of noise and vibration
  • Acoustical simulation experience and Matlab post-processing a plus
  • Ability to communicate findings and ideas to other teams
  • Ability to effectively contribute in fast-paced, cross-functional environment
