Engineering Project Manager - Chemicals- Yorkshire- £60-65k

Our client is a privately owned, leading manufacturer of a variety of chemical products worldwide

With significant plans for long term growth and capital spend; they have identified the need to recruit an Engineering Project Managerto aid with current and future capital project work, delivering projects on time & within budget.

Taking overall responsibility for all engineering projects, this a role of some seniority, and should appeal to a technically minded, degree qualified engineer, with an eye for identifying improvements and a track-record of delivering projects in a similar chemical manufacturing environment.

Based at their chemical manufacturing site in Yorkshire, this is a demanding but exciting opportunity to join a forward thinking business, with a focus on safety and efficiency improvements. The role holder will be a degree qualified engineer & a natural leader, able to demonstrate significant industry experience working in a similar project orientated role, within a chemical manufacturing environment, ideally on a Top Tier COMAH site.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support a range of Capex projects end to end from initial scope to commissioning
  • Help identify and implement improvements to plant facilities, processes and methods of operation
  • Manage construction & commissioning stage of projects, ensuring they are completed on time/ within budget
  • Work with procurement to appoint appropriate contracts to execute project work, and manage such contractors
  • Review and manage safety and regulatory requirements of projects, specifically COMAH and Process Safety
  • Implement defined project scopes for both CAPEX and sustenance expenditure
  • Provide technical support to plant and operations as needed

Essential

  • Bachelors or Master in Engineering, preferably Chemical
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Knowledge of best practise manufacturing and materials management systems
  • Previous experience leading commissioning of new plant & equipment
  • Man-management skills for both direct and indirect reports
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable dealing with internal & external contacts

Desirable

  • Experience of distillation, batch processing, continuous processing, commissioning
  • Experience working in a COMAH environment
  • Experience with energy saving projects
